Getting Rid of the Beauty Blues

Recently, I decided to stop into a Sephora for some much needed beauty products. Lately, I have been feeling a little bit under the weather and I think it has a lot to do with the products that I have been using. As any logical thinker would know; if you're doing through the beauty blues, the fastest way to resolve this issue is to get a much needed dose of pampering - a monthly Sephora visit will do the trick of keeping the beauty blues away! With that said, take a look at what I picked up:

My first concern was for my ultra sensitive and uber dry skin. Lately it seems as though the body moisturizer that I have been using has gone on hiatus as far as performance. I made a quick bee line to the skincare section and headed straight for Sephora's Super Supreme Body Butter. The 13.52 fl. oz jar which retails for $25, has a rich texture and is stated to hydrate the body for all skin types, especially very dry skin.

Since I was already in the neighborhood, I decided to browse through the Fresh section and pick up something refreshing for summer - Sugar Lychee Eau de Parfum. Sugar Lychee contains notes of Grapefruit, Italian Lemon and Lime Blossom, Lychee, Mango Flower, Freesia, Sandalwood, Tonka Bean, Amber. Perfect for summer, Sugar Lychee is exotic, fresh and warm. Although I originally intended on purchasing the pure vegetable-based soap, I figured that I was well deserving of a 1 oz. bottle of this refreshingly citrus scent.

My final purchase was probably the most important one - a Fabulous Foaming Face Wash by Bliss. This two-in-one rinse-off cleanser and exfoliator is said to be ideal for all skin types. I have heard a lot of people rave about this product - someone even went so far as to claiming that I will see instant results. Being as curious as I am, I had to purchase it and see what's all the fuss about.

While at Sephora, I found out about their Skincare Challenge for Beauty Insiders. How it works is that you will automatically receive one credit for each facial skincare item you buy (valuing $20 or more) online and in stores. After your fourth skincare purchase, you will receive a FREE featured reward product.

In total, my purchase amounted to over $80 - not bad considering that it is for my health. In an attempt to nurse myself back to health, I will be using these products throughout the week and will update you with a product review of each item - dishing on my findings. And if you're familiar with or have questions regarding these products, feel free to leave a comment below and I'll be sure to get back to you. But for now, I will be indulging in some much needed pampering this week.

Lush - Facial and Skin Care

The LUSH approach to cosmetics retailing can, at best, be described as "unorthodox". LUSH is far more like a food retailer than a traditional cosmetics company (think handmade and fresh merchandise loaded with natural ingredients, butchers' blocks, prices by weight, grease-proof wrapping paper, and best-by dates). In LUSH's "beauty delis", soaps are piled high on Provencal-style wooden tables like strange and exotic cheeses, whilst a myriad of orbs (fizzing Bath Bombs) are presented in-store like perfectly round apples.

LUSH offers a wide range of products such as bath bombs, bubble bars, liquid shampoos, shampoo bars, soaps, skin care creams, hair care products, massage bars, body butters, foot care products, face masks, gift sets and much more. All products are natural, vegetarian (or vegan), handmade and cruelty free.

BLISS: Traveling Bath & Beauty Kit

If you’re traveling this summer, your passport shouldn’t be the only important thing that you keep with you at all time. Beauty doesn’t start or end at home – so why not bring Bliss along on your vacation. This mini-sized Lemon + Sage Sinkside Six Pack offers everything you to preserve your beauty while away for only $25.

For those of you who have always wanted to try some of the bliss products - this will be the perfect way to sample several different products without spending a lot of money. Bliss packaged this Sinkside Six Pack set conveniently for traveling - allowing you to try out different products before upgrading to the full sized products. The nice lemon and woodsy-sage scent of the soap, lotion, face wash, shampoo and conditioner are soothing.

Included are:
Fabulous Foaming Face Wash (1oz)
Lemon + Sage Soapy Sap/ Shower gel (1oz)
Lemon + Sage Body Butter (1oz)
Lemon + Sage Supershine Shampoo (1oz)
Lemon + Sage Conditioning Rinse (1oz)
Lemon + Sage Soap Slab (1.8 oz)

The foaming face wash is one of the best skin washes out there regardless of skin type. The smell is great and overall performance is amazing: It cleanses well without leaving your skin too tight and has a pleasant rosemary scent. The soapy sap is an excellent cooling body wash. Although the lemon sage shower gel is a little bit on the runny side, this does not affect the product’s potency. The thick and creamy lotion goes on like butter and smells fantastic and refreshing. The bar soap has nubs on one side and is smooth on the other. This may be to help with stimulation and cellulite. Also included are 1 oz shampoo and conditioner.

As for longevity; these items should hold you over for a full week. So if you’re planning on vacation a little longer try stocking up on 2 kits.

Overall, this Sinkside Six Pack is great if you travel a lot. Its got everything you need, and packaged nicely: the products will keep your hair and skin very moisturized while exposed to the hot, dry, and cold elements for a whole week. Of course, these are not just travel items, but really nice Bliss products that every woman should try. And for those of you who can’t afford a vacation, buying this $25 kit will be like adding a little vacay getaway plus spa factor to your daily shower routine.
