Fragrances: Versus by Versace

Versus Eau de Toilette 1 oz

Versus is pure energy, built upon strong, contrasting characteristics. Romantic-yet-tough femininity reflects the woman who loves to dare and the core spirit of the brand—dedicated to evolution, confidence, and cutting-edge style. A game of opposites creatively moves between romantic and aggressive, and evolves from punk to melodious.

The color of the fragrance, termed the "fifth essence of violet," evokes modernity, mystery, and freedom. The fresh, intense fragrance opens with the vitality of kumquat, sweet star apple, and scintillating lemon—an inviting accord that evokes energy and personality. The heart is floral and dynamic, translated to the senses through soulful orange flower, stephanotis, and luxurious rose Centifolia. The provocative drydown reveals the sensuality of patchouli and the enveloping depth of musk, punctuated by ambrette seeds.

The crystal bottle plays its own game of opposites, showing complex reality in transformation—from empty to full spaces, from cold to warm, from melodious to lively, from classic to audacious, from sublime to rock and roll. The Versus logo stands out in warm, illuminating gold in the middle of the flacon and it is engraved in relief on top of the cap. Versus' appeal speaks through vibrant deep hues shading into a transparent range of violet. Strong nuances of color, glittering light effects, and surprising gradients between gold and silver converge into an object of desire.

Fragrance Of The Week: LOVE EXPRESS

I am not exactly a huge fan of most department store perfumes. A lot of times they're either too sweet or too strong. However every now and then one comes along that I really like. Right now I really have a thing for Love Express from EXPRESS!

On Express.com this fragrance is described as Glamorous, Playful, Iconic, and Sexy. I'd have to agree on all points. Love Express is their first ever fragrance for women, and they're off to a good start. Unlike some fashion brand fragrances that may smell like they were targeted towards teenage girls, Love Express manages to project strength, and confidence, while still remaining feminine.

Inspired by Express style, fashion swank, and larger than life glamour, Love Express is all grown up in a very refreshing way. Notes of Blackberry, Lily of the Valley, Tiare Blossoms and Sheer Vanilla Musk give Love Express its distinct scent.

I also love the bottle design. I've always said that simplicity is excellence when Excellence meets simplicity. Love Express is bottled exclusively by Express and Made in the USA, and the all American design is simply perfect.

Love Express is available by visiting: Express.com. There are two bottle sizes available. $44.90 gets you the 1.7 oz bottle. $59.90 gets you 3.4 oz. Although this fragrance is highly rated by customers on Express.com it might still be a better idea to start with the 1.7 oz bottle first. But if you've already sampled this fragrance, then the 3.4 0z bottle is a tremendous value.

Do You Think About Me? Contest Winner Announced!!!

Thank you to everyone who entered the DO YOU THINK ABOUT ME? (Poll Contest!!!). If you missed the contest, let me recap the details. We asked you the readers to tell us about how you spent your Valentine's Day. If you didn't do anything special, we asked that you tell us about your last hot Date. We got a couple dozen entries and as usual you guys rocked. Some of your entries made us laugh, some were sad and some were unmentionable. I wish I could've selected all of you, but indeed and at last we need a single winner. So everyone, (including all who entered but didn't win) join me in congratulating

N.D'Zings

N.D'zings wrote: I had a horrible Valentine's Day. I was asked out by this guy that I had been talking to for a few weeks. First problem was that I had to pick him up because he has transportation issues. Second, the movie we tried to see was sold out - of course he didn't go online to reserve tickets in advance. Third, we then went to a nice Mexican restaurant (at his suggestion), but once we got inside, he wanted to go elsewhere because they didn't serve pitchers of beer. I had already ordered a drink (which i never finished) because I presumed we were eating there. I paid for my drink, as I didn't see him offering to take care of it for me. I also tipped the valet guy, as he didn't go into his pockets to do it. Fourth, we ended up at a sports bar which permitted him to order his beloved pitcher of beer. He suggested that we get wings. I didn't initially want that, but I thought to myself, "he's paying, so oh well". The Allstar game was on (in which I had no interest), and we were at the restaurant from 5:45/6ish to midnight because of the damn game!! To make a long story short, I ended up paying for the meal because he was making moves to go, but hadn't pulled out any money to pay for the food! He came out of pocket all of $5 for parking at the sports bar (and he didn't want to do that!) At the end of the night, I was extremely pissed, but kept my composure and remained classy. I let him know the next day that he was dead wrong for the previous night and that I had no further interest in communicating with him.

Wow! All I can say is I hope your next date will be better. As a matter of fact I know of a guy that I'd like to set you up with. He's a little bit of an older gentlemen, but he always smells nice. His name is Salvatore, and here is his picture:

It's Salvatore Ferragamo's latest masterpiece: Incanto Bloom. Incanto Bloom was designed for the young and fashionable metropolitan woman with a desire for the latest in chic. Bloom offers a lively and subtle twist of Grapefruit. Flowers and Freesia introduce a wide, blossoming bouquet of Tea Roses and Champaca flowers. Bloom is packaged with the Vara bow, one of the most recognizable symbols of the Ferragamo brand, representing pure Ferragamo style and femininity.

The Perfume was born from the mind of renowned fragrance designer Sophie Labbe'. Here she is wearing the long sleeve dress alongside with Fashionwithfifi.com's own Suzanna Gregoire three weeks ago in New York City. She personally told Suzanna that Incanto meant "Enchanted" in Italian. When asked what her inspiration for creating the scent was, she replied- "It's kind of the Enchanted Nature in the city". Sophie was kind enough to personally thank us for attending her party and gifted us the very same bottle of Incanto Bloom that we're in turn gifting to you.

Guide to Finding the Perfect Fragrance

Holidays are all about families and fragrance certainly fits right in. Here’s a guide that puts personality style together with the fragrance family to ensure the perfect fragrance gift.

First, know your nose! Perfumes are like musical compositions. The overture is the ‘top” note or the first impression when you try the scent on or open the bottle. The impact is immediate and sets up the next chorus of the fragrance which is the “middle note”. This is the very heart of the fragrance that stays with you longest before the final “base note” comes into play signaling the moment when the fragrance has truly developed to its fullest, lingering on the skin for many pleasurable hours.

Next, let’s talk fragrance like a pro. According to The Fragrance Foundation, who wrote the book on all things fragranced, perfumed and scented, fragrances are grouped into “families”. Florals, Orientals, Chypre (pronounced Sheep-ra), Woody, Fruity, Floriental, Citrus and Green are the most well-known. “It’s the magic and alchemy of the perfumer’s art to blend and mix the hundreds and thousands of ingredients that can make up an infinite variety of “scentsational” scents. Just like a composer does with music”, explains Rochelle Bloom, President of The Fragrance Foundation.

Now that you get the idea, here are some personality types that you might recognize on your holiday gift list and the fragrance “family” ingredients that would appeal to them:

For Him

Athletic: Citrus. Fresh and Brisk. Clean and simple.

Earthy: Fougere forest notes from oak moss, resin and geranium oil.

Dynamic: Smoky, pungent,masculine leather notes.

For Her

Sporty: Look for a fragrance that is light and sparkly. Citrus and green. The crystal-clean fresh tang of such fascinating ingredients as lemon, orange and lime. The zest and energy of freshly cut grass and dewy-green leaves.

Classic: Think Audrey Hepburn and Coco Chanel. Often single florals like rose or gardenia, sometimes balanced by a variety of contrasting, sophisticated notes from the perfumer’s palette.

Fashionista: A cutting edge Italian designer. A little black number from Paris or a style maven from the US? The fashion designer today uses individualist notes that range from sophisticated and mysterious to spicy and oriental. Get their style through a signature scent.

Romantic: Chypre and Floral Orientals work their magic. Often an uninhibited blend of exotic flowers, herbs and spices.
