Beauty Solutions: Natural Secrets to Goddess Glow

Beauty isn’t only skin-deep. No amount of foundation or eyeliner makes a woman beautiful. Make-up tips and tricks can certainly freshen up a face, but carrying it out the door is what makes a woman beautiful. Here are some natural tips on getting a glow.

Hydrated skin has more moisture, less breakouts, and less wrinkles. Beyond that, staying hydrated helps your body function much better.

Make a list of your favorite attributes and experiment with ways to highlight them. Better yet, take your worst attribute and make it work for you. Model and make-up designer Lauren Hutton is famous for her gapped front teeth. Cindy Crawford’s signature mark is her mole. Love the skin you are in.
Making other people feel good will make you feel good inside-and that shows in your eyes, smile and even the way you walk.

Beauty Solutions: Longer Lasting Daytime Make Up

Make up looks great when you first apply it. But what about eight hours later; after you’ve sat in rush hour traffic and put in a full day at the office? Making a few simple changes to your routine can improve the longevity of your daytime make up look.

After applying concealer to the under eye area, use a foundation makeup. Start at the hair line, and blend the foundation into the face and neck line. Then, set the foundation with a powder; which increases staying power. Also, make sure to apply foundation on top of your eye concealer, which allows eye shadow to stay put longer.

And finally, make sure to choose a lipstick instead of a gloss. The reason? Gloss will wear off relatively quickly, while lipstick can last all day; especially if the product contains the ingredient Permatone, which can last up to 12 hours.

Beauty Solutions: Dark Eye Makeup

Contrast is one great way to play up your eye color—no matter what it is. The idea behind this makeup strategy is to provide a "background" for eye color that will help make it stand out. This is a particularly useful way to go about daytime makeup application since it involves using neutral colors, but it can be employed for evening wear as well. It also works great if you want to emphasize another feature, such as your lips.

Dark eye makeup tends to compete with eye color, so to contrast successfully, using a light shade often works better. Those with blue or green eyes may want to use a light brown color as an eyeshadow for contrast, while brown-eyed ladies may want to try a sweep of light green or blue to make eye color pop. Depending on your shade of eye color, some tones may draw out the hue more than others, so a little "trial and error" may be needed as well—you’ll know when you get it right!

Keeping Up With Kim Kardashian: Beauty, Boys & Brows

Queens rapper 50 Cent and tv reality star Kim Kardashian are apparently the new odd couple in the news. Not for what you’re thinking though; the two are teaming up on a business venture to create a new line of perfumes under 50’s Lighthouse Beauty Company. This will allow Kim to launch her own line of perfumes - the first set to release in Spring of 2010. Kim is so excited, she’s even including her fans in the decision making process. Here’s what she had to say via her website:

Don't you just love Kim?! She's like my fictitious BFF. Kim does know a thing or two about beauty and fashion so I can’t wait to see how this all turns out. Speaking of pretty Kimmy, last week she had her first eyebrow shaping with Anastasia at Anastasia Beverly Hills. The purpose of shaping your eyebrows is to enhance your face. If you’re not familiar with Anastasia – she’s the Go-to-Gal for eyebrows in the celebrity world. Kim raved about Anastasia’s new $22 Lash Lifting Mascara:

“I swear, I literally need one coat and my eyelashes have so much volume and curl. Usually I feel like I have to keep applying coats to build up volume, but this mascara is perfect!!! It has hard waxes and synthetic polymers in that help build lashes to give volume.”

Sounds interesting. I'm familiar with Anastasia's
Brow Wiz Skinny Brow Pencil so I’ve got to try this out. And last but not least ladies, here’s a quick beauty tip for getting curly eye lashes: Heat your eyelash curler for a few seconds with the hairdryer. It helps curl better and hold better!

Beauty Solutions: How to Buy Mineral Makeup

BABOR Mineral Bronzing Pearls - 02 Medium

Mineral makeup is getting a lot of buzz lately, but why all the hype? Devotees rave about the green aspect-no preservatives or chemicals-but also the lightweight feel, good-for-your-skin ingredients, and how naturally gorgeous your face looks after one brushstroke. Sensitive skin types are embracing minerals as well, because of the claims that these formulas won't irritate like traditional makeup. The good news is mineral makeup is everywhere these days; more and more beauty companies are adding it to their lineup. Chances are your favorite makeup brand has dipped its brush into minerals, too. If you're ready to give mineral makeup a whirl, here's the guide to getting the goods.

Minerals: The makeup is all or partially made from finely ground minerals like, mica, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide found in the earth. It's usually free of dyes, preservatives, and chemicals that are found in traditional makeup.

Texture: Foundations, blushes, bronzers and shadows are usually a loose powder form, so that you can blend and buff the powdery particles into skin. Other textures-like lipsticks, pressed powders and creams-may contain minerals but aren't necessarily chemical-free.

Shades: For the loose powder foundation, you can blend a variety of shades to achieve your perfect match. Remember, the look is sheer rather than matte.

Packaging: For on-the-go touch-ups, look for the brush filled with powder combo. Most companies package the formula in shakers-small pots with holes on top so you can shake out the powder.

Brush: A fluffy brush is crucial to "buff and build" the powder formula. By buffing or swirling the brush onto skin, you build color and coverage.
