At yesterday’s Yves Saint Laurent show in Paris, Redken Creative Consultant Guido was backstage working his magic to put the finishing touches to the overall look of the designers’ Fall/Winter collection. See below for the must-have products and inspiration!

Inspired by the refined, modern, elegant and bourgeois French woman, Guido created a stylized, sophisticated chignon with lacquered look around the front hair line. “At Yves Saint Laurent, we took a classic chignon and modernized it for this house; the key was using Redken hardwear 16 super strong gel along the hairline to give it that lacquered effect.” -Guido, Redken Creative Consultant

Create the look:
1. Pull hair into low ponytail, keeping the sides smooth
2. Wrap the hair in upon itself to create a flat chignon
3. Secure with pins and forceful 23 super strength finishing spray to hold
4. Along the front portion of the hairline, apply hardwear 16 super strong gel from the hairline to about 3 inches back
5. Finish with forceful 23 to create a very sophisticated, lacquered style

First Look - Spring/Summer 2010 Manifesto tote from Yves Saint Laurent

Fashion Week is only two days away which means that New York City is going to be hot for the days to come, regardless of the storm watch. If you have ever been to Bryant Park during Fashion Week, then you are familiar with the
YSL Manifesto bags that are given away for free!!


With every season comes a different bag, so take a look that the Spring/Summer 2010 Manifesto tote from Yves Saint Laurent. These totes will make their debut on the streets of New York on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, followed by a worldwide release on Saturday, February 20 in the streets of New York City – followed by Paris, London, Milan, Tokyo, Hong Kong and, for the first time, Berlin.


This Manifesto – the sixth edition, was photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin under the creative direction of Stefano Pilati, and features Natalia Vodianova in the Yves Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2010 collection. In a spirited gesture of generosity and democracy, like past seasons about half a million copies of the Manifesto will be distributed globally and to the first 2,000 passerby in each city with a custom cotton tote bag designed by Pilati.


The limited edition Manifesto tote will feature two luscious pixilated strawberry prints on the front and back surrounded by a white background. I can’t wait to get my hands on one – or maybe two (evil grin)! Destination Fashion Week here we come!
