Fekkai Classic to Change Retail Address in 2010

Frederic Fekkai Glossing Conditioner 200ml/8ozFrederic Fekkai Technician Color Care Conditioner 200ml/8oz

Starting next year famed Hollywood Hair extraodinare Frederic Fekkai will be selling his products at Walgreens and Target. Although this strikes as a great idea to conservative consumers, Sephora isn't too keen on the idea. In response to Fekkai's decision, the specialty retail store announced that it will be dropping the line. What's my response to this: its Sephora's loss and our gain!

The classic items that we're all too familiar with - Glossing, Full Volume, and Technician Color lines will be sold at Walgreens and Target. However, the recently launched Fekkai Advanced will continue to be sold at high-end retailers - Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. Even though the lines are changing addresses, the prices will remain high-end, with products set to run between $20 and $30, just as they did at Sephora.

This will be a great way for Fekkai to introduce his line of products to consumers who normally wouldn't frequent Sephora or Neiman Marcus. Most of the time it is usually the store, and not price, that turns the consumer off from buying (or even inquiring about) the product. With the new year comes change and this is definitely a change that we all can agree with!

Jean Paul Gaultier at a Target Near You!

If affordably trendy fashion from Alexander McQueen and Anna Sui haven't made Target your favorite shopping destination, maybe Jean Paul Gaultier will. According to WWD, word has it that fashion extraordinare, Jean Paul Gaultier, is next up to collaborate with Target. Although the process has started, don't run down to the nearest supercenter yet because Gaultier's designs won't be in stores for a while.

“We don’t have anything to share other than we admire his work and incredible design aesthetic,” a Target spokesman said Thursday.

A spokeswoman for Gaultier declined comment.

Wouldn't you agree that great things have come out of this recession for bargain seeking fashionistas?!

Isaac Mizrahi Celebrates at Macy's

Adorable Fashion at Affordable Rates

With job losses at an all time high, it’s becoming more difficult for the average person to keep up with the Jones’. Consumers are pinching pennies and the latest high end fashion items aren’t moving as fast as they used to --- like art collections at a gallery; it seems its purpose is for display only. Second-hand and clearance rack shopping don’t seem that bad after all.
“I want our clothes to be the least expensive thing on the floor,” said Isaac Mizrahi who designs for the Liz Claiborne collection. “How much is Eileen Fisher charging these days?” he asked, gesturing towards a display of $68 T-shirts.

400 plus people were in attendance to see Mr. Mizrahi introduce the revamped price conscience Claiborne line. The line was well received especially since 80 percent of shoppers across all income levels say they would not make a purchase unless it was an absolute necessity.
Ann Taylor and Talbots have been recruiting designers who are able form looks that are appealing to the average consumer. Although there are a few Designers who are slashing prices, many refuse to do the same and bare the loss. Other brands offer more affordable fashion choices at stores such as Target and JC Penny. But have we seen a dramatic increase in sales from those retailers versus to their counterparts?

The question is “are consumers loyal to the brand or are they just fooling themselves?” If more consumers were shifting towards affordable designer fashions and voice their complaints, many Designers would follow suit and cut prices. Use your judgment and voice wisely when shopping – not your credit cards.
