Beauty Addicts Flock to SoHo for Shecky's 'Beauty Night Out'

Women all across Manhattan flocked to SoHo last night for the annual ‘Beauty Night Out’ hosted by Shecky’s, a media company that covers everything from nightlife to fashion to beauty. The two-day affair launched yesterday at the Puck Building and featured the winners of Shecky’s ‘Beauty At Its Best’ Awards.’ Women were invited to engage in complimentary sampling, pampering and styling.

FashionwithFifi.com was in attendance last night (That's me with the boots above), reviewing hundreds of products and mingling with a crowd of more than 2,000 beauty addicts! Guests enjoyed unlimited cocktails from Midori, Sky Infusions and Bacardi Silver’s Signature Lemonade. They even scored one of Shecky’s famous goodie bags worth up to $125. No wonder the line started forming more than an hour beforehand!

Also in appearance was Claudia Chan, the president of Shecky’s. “This event covers everything that women love. Beauty is so relevant to all women,” she said.

And picking the winning beauty products for this year’s event was no small task, Chan revealed. Shecky’s enlisted a team of beauty experts to test more than 2,000 products during the past twelve months. After meticulously weeding out the mediocre, the team, comprised of celebrity stylists, beauty bloggers, and product aficionados, awarded 300 products with Shecky’s prestigious stamp of approval.

Some of this year’s winners include KohGenDo’s Maifanshi Moisture Foundation, Conair’s YouStyle 2-in-1 Iron from Infiniti, and Yes to Carrots’ Eye Love Cucumbers Eye Gel.

If you love a French manicure, but don't want to spend the bucks to have it done professionally, Kiss introduced its new 'Everlasting French' acrylic nail kit. At the booth, guests caught a glimpse of the nails and snagged a free kit!

Guests also browsed jewelry from designers such as Barbara Weinreb and Katie Thompson and Eda & Betty. Many jewelry designers offered discounts on items featured at the event.

The entire building was buzzing with excitement as women received premier treatment from beauty companies. At the Redkin booth, hair stylists gave complimentary hair styles, while at Cargo, beauty technicians demonstrated how to create foolproof eye looks — Just to name a few!

“Since we have access to so many products, we can find the best ones for women,” said Chan. "And this year, many companies are targeting the ‘frugalistas’." “Luxury is getting hit hard,” Chan disclosed.

Perfume of the Week: Versace Bright Crystal

I’ve seen a lot when it comes to perfume but a perfume that smells like freshly cut roses but does not have any rose accord in it is something I’m not expecting often. If you are seeking for a sheer and sensual fragrance that can be worn in the fall, try Bright Crystal Perfume by Versace.

Iced Accord, Yuzu, Pomegranate, Peony, Magnolia, Lotus Flower, Acajou, Vegetal Amber and (of course) Musk are the notes of this luminous and sheer yet not too shy perfume. The staying power is excellent, which is not a common trait in such clean fragrances.

Bright Crystal doesn’t add anything new, is not over the top and it’s not daring at all: it’s just a perfume that will let you be in your comfort zone indefinitely. To me, it’s perfect for those lazy days when putting on makeup and blow-drying my hair is just more work than what I can handle.

Overall I like it and would recommend it to high school girls, women who are just getting started on the perfume world or people who get annoyed by strong scents.

Shoe Of The Week: Dereon- Room Service

When I first heard that Dereon was going to relaunch this fall I was among the skeptics. Hoever if they continue to put out shoes like this. you might have to start counting me amongst the converted. Wow a crowd in these snazzy heels Dereon is calling Room Service. Although I'm not sure of the inspiration behind the name, I'd have to call this heel a shoegasm worthy of being the "Shoe Of The Week". Room Service comes in two distinctive colors featuring either soft black or brown suede down the center with laces and gold detail that tie at the center. This pointed toe knee boot is complete with a Dereon embellishment and a 3 ¾ inch dual toned stiletto heel. This boot is very Sasha Fierce and will probably one of the things your friends envy you for this fall. I wouldn't call this shoe fit for cold NYC winters, but I don't think you'll need any excuse to wear them throughout Fall. Right now I only see this heel listed at heels.com and they sell it for $98.99. Sizes range from 6 1/2 to 11 in both colors, however the brown does sell out of some sizes from time to time. Hair Solutions: How To Make an Avocado Mask For Dry Hair

Revive dry, dull locks with one quick trip to the kitchen.


You Will Need:
A ripe avocado
1/2 tsp. olive oil
1 egg yolk
A plastic wrap or shower cap
A blow dryer
A towel
Vitamin E capsule (optional)

Step 1: Combine ingredients
Mash a ripe avocado and mix with the olive oil and egg yolk. Squeeze in a vitamin E capsule for a healthy hair boost.

Step 2: Apply to damp hair
Apply to damp hair and gently massage into hair from roots to ends.

Step 3: Wrap hair in plastic
Wrap your hair in plastic wrap or a shower cap. Use a blow dryer to help the mask penetrate the hair cuticle.

Step 4: Cover and set
Cover the plastic with a towel and leave the mixture on for at least 30 minutes. Leave the mixture on overnight for deeper conditioning.

Step 5: Rinse and shampoo
Rinse hair with warm water. Shampoo and condition as usual. Drench hair in cold water as a final rinse to lock in body and shine.

Step 6: Air dry
Air dry your newly conditioned strands for best results.

Condé Nast to Close 4 Magazines

For years now the magazine industry has been struggling to stay afloat. Yesterday, magazine publisher Condé Nast announced plans to close Modern Bride, Elegant Bride, Cookie and Gourmet magazines. Condé Nast hired consultants McKinsey & Co. in an attempt to increase profitability across its magazines and Web sites. With that said, you know what’s soon to follow. This will create a total job loss of about 180.

Maybe Condé Nast should completely convert the magazine to an online based magazine. How many of you still subscribe to magazines, and which one(s)?
