Summer Shaving Tips from King of Shaves

Overexposure to summer sun, sand and surf can leave skin looking (and feeling) a bit abused. And while scruff and stubble may work on the weekend, come Monday, a clean shave is still a work-requirement. Master Barber for King of Shaves, Diane Wood, offers these tips to treat summer skin.

Keep it Cool: “Give skin a cool treat by storing shaving gel in the refrigerator,” Wood explains. “The cool gel will offer instant cooling relief to sunburnt skin!” Try King of Shaves AlphaGel Shaving Gel Natural. This low foam formula shaving gel, rich in skin soothing Aloe Vera, vitamin E and essential oils, provides a soothing platform for a super smooth, supple shave. Plus the fragrance and alcohol-free formula makes it ideal for even the most sensitive skin!

Skip the Aftershave: “The days of “splashing it on” are long gone!” Wood says. Aftershave is primarily made from alcohol and alcohol, like soap, has a drying effect on the skin. Skip this step entirely (why torture damaged skin even more?!) or if fragrance is a must, only apply it to wrists and clothing.

Don’t Forget to Moisturize: Skin that has been exposed to sun, wind, saltwater and chlorine has been stripped of its natural oils. “Replenish skin by always applying an alcohol-free post-shave product,” Wood recommends. Opt for a moisturizer that hydrates and also has a built in sunscreen to protect against further damage. Try King of Shaves K-24 Active Moisturiser. Rich in nourishing vitamin E and UVA and UVB sunscreens, King of Shaves K-24 Active Moisturiser leaves skin smooth and soft, not tight and dry!
