Dolce & Gabbana and Madonna presents MDG


Last week, Fashionwithfifi had the opportunity to attend an exclusive party at ilori (Soho) celebrating the Dolce & Gabbana and Madonna's MDG haute sunglasses. The night was decked out in gold: servers passed out golden chocolate bars, strawberries dipped in chocolate and gold, champagne and finger foods. Attendees co-mingled with one another while trying on sunglasses from the MDG collection.

Dolce & Gabbana and Madonna present MDG is the first sun glass collection personally designed by the singer in collaboration with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The first six styles launched in May of this year.

The collection bears the MDG logo and marks Madonna’s first foray into the world of eye wear and will be manufactured by Luxottica.




“Designing an eye wear line with Madonna was a new experience for us. The over sized and wraparound designs are sexy and very feminine, like our clothes. Madonna’s creative contribution and unique point of view were key, even in designing the MDG logo” remarked Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.

Fashionwithfifi had a blast! A DJ was on hand spinning all of Madonna's hits. MDG features a variety of frame styles and colors. We could say for certain that the MDG collection is nothing short of haute. Gap Introduces GapKids 1969 Premium Jeans Collection

Yesterday, Gap introduced its latest collection of 1969 Premium Jeans – this time, made especially for GapKids. Re-engineered with a focus on style and quality, the new collection offers the most comfortable, long-lasting and versatile denim on the market for young fashionistas and fashionistos. The 1969 Fit:

1969 Kids Pop-up:
To celebrate the launch, Gap opened 1969 Kids on celebrity-laden Robertson Blvd in West Hollywood on Friday, June 25. The kids-centric pop-up shop, modeled after Gap's popular 1969 Jeans Shop for adults next-door, is anchored in the new GapKids denim collection and will be open for three months. The shop features a hand-selected assortment of fashion-forward and iconic pieces from the GapKids fall collection including plaid shirts, Junkfood graphic tees, crochet-detail tops, floral and chambray dresses, and a selection of fun accessories like watches, hats, pencil cases and key chains.

In addition to kids, the shop will feature babyGap 1969 Premium Jeans, launched earlier this year for babies 0-24 months.

Madonna + Macys = Material Girl Collection



The Material Girl and Iconix Brand Group Inc. recently formed a joint venture called MG Icon LLC, which will introduce various fashion-related endeavors to retail stores throughout America and around the world. The first project is a juniors’ clothing line called Material Girl, which will make its debut exclusively at Macy’s this August. Material Girl clothing targets 13- to 25-year-olds consisting of apparel, footwear, handbags and jewelry, with affordable retail prices ranging from $12 to $40. Offerings could expand into beauty and fragrance categories next year. The collection will launch in time for back-to-school in 200 doors and on macys.com. Bagsok's Handbags to Borrow Ideas from Hermes


On June 1st, Bagsok released its latest collection -- Alfa Artist handbags -- which use scarves as a decoration. But days later, a customer named Jenny, pointed out in her blog that the design of this collection is suspected to borrow the idea of Hermes.

www.bagsok.com is one of the most popular online stores where a great variety of brand handbags for trendy girls and women are available. And Alfa Artist, as one of the leading bag brands in Europe, catches the most attention. On June 1st, www.bagsok.com released two new Alfa Artist handbags that have kept its consistent style: simple and classic. The stylish silk scarves tied to the handbags are eye-catching. It is said that Alfa Artist borrowed this idea from Hermes who combined silk scarves and bags at the beginning of 2010.

Responding to the suspicion of the public, Alex Boynton, the Design Director of Alfa Artist announced, "We use silk scarves in totally different ways. Hermes uses silk scarves as a major material of its bags while we use silk scarves as decorations of our bags. Besides, all scarves can be separated from Alfa Artist handbags. When the customer buys one, she gets one bag and one scarf. And apart from the function of a decoration on the handbag, the silk scarf could also be used as a hair accessory to tie up her hair in the summertime; also, it could be tied around the hand to make one feel as if she were floating in the wind!"

Additionally, he stressed, "Silk is a symbol of elegance and nobility. In the near future, more and more designers will add silk as an important element to bags, and we just go a bit faster."

Andrew Dickson, the sales manager of www.bagsok.com said, "Since we released the two new Alfa Artist handbags on June 1st, more than 8590 bags have been sold and the demand is increasing. Some customers even want to buy the silk scarf alone."

The marketing manager of Bagsok, Kevin Ellison, said that they have considered producing more silk scarves.

But could silk scarves really become a chic element of bags, or to say, the highlight of handbags? Only the market will tell.
