StyleFixx Event Shows Women How to Take Charge of Fashion

At last night’s Girls Night Out, hosted by StyleFixx in the Metropolitan Pavilion, Fashion With Fifi mingled with NYC’s trendy fashionistas and perused a room with more than 55 style conscious designers and brands.

The two-night event, held on October 21st and 22nd from five to 10 p.m., featured special guest Project Runway Designer Kara Janx and her new fall collection as well as complimentary makeup demos from Emmy award-winning celebrity makeup artist Eve Pearl.

Fashionwithfifi.com's Erin (Yellow Scarf) and Kara Janx.

This was the debut of the StyleFixx event at its NYC location and Jason Rothe, the company’s president, stressed how exciting it was to be in the city. “Our goal is to bring class and sophistication to this unique shopping event,” he said.

Rothe explained that the event was all about treating women well and generously by showcasing the most relevant and current products on the market. Fashion consultants were at the event, offering inside information for style-conscious women vendors encouraged guests to try on everything from jewelry to jackets, to hats and sunglasses, making the event fun and dynamic!

“Women in New York City are more edgy and more in-tuned to trends here. They are so surrounded with fashion and trends, which makes them more critical,” said Rothe.

Rothe recognizes that vendors today need to take a new approach to marketing their products and designs to women. “For longevity, you have to be creative and engaging and reach out to women,” he said. The purpose of this event was to create a very hands-on and interactive shopping event that was both fun and relaxing for women.

Stylists at Enzo Milano showed guests how to create loose, romantic curls with their new product line, giving demonstrations and even letting guests try it out themselves, as you can see in the pictures above!

Guests also sipped on complimentary X-Rated Fusion cocktails, Stella Artois, and Barefoot Wine and took home a StyleFixx Swag Bag stuffed with free products such as Yes to Carrots Hair & Scalp Mask, Frownies Wrinkle Cream, glamour kits from Fashion Forms, and more!

StyleFixx hosts similar events in Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles, so be sure to check out their website, http://www.stylefixx.com/, for event and ticket information.

Beauty Solutions: How to Buy a Hair Dryer

Ion Anti-Frizz Tourmaline Ionic Hair Dryer

Transforming soaking wet hair into a swingy, sexy style takes more than an arsenal of good hair products: You need a super speedy hair dryer that can absorb the water lickety-split. Thankfully, the latest technology in hair dryers has made damaging dryers a relic of the past. Now, you can go from wet to dry in warp speed and in the process, get healthy, silky smooth locks. Read on to see what's the best buy for getting dry:

Wattage: The measurement of the blow dryer speed. Most dryers have wattages between 600 to 2000 watts. Thinner hair requires a lower wattage than thicker, more textured strands.

Weight: The weight of hair dryers can vary; some weigh in at only half a pound, others go up to three. If you've got long locks, you'll probably want a hair dryer that's on the lighter side, to keep you arm from getting tired.

Settings: Dryers have at least two speeds: low and high. Hi-tech dryers have even more speed/heat settings, a cool button to "cool off" and set a finished style, and a turbo feature that increases heat and airflow instantly.

Technology: Ionic, tourmaline and ceramic are the latest technologies being touted; most cut drying time in half, and keep hair healthy.

Attachment: A part that fits onto a nozzle of a hair dryer; different attachments yield different results, i.e. a smooth style or a curly one.
