Perfume of The Week - Scarlett by Cacharel

Cacharel Scarlett Eau De Toilette Spray 50ml/1.7oz

This week's perfume is Cacharel Scarlett. Cacharel’s biggest hit ever, as far as perfume is concerned, was Anaïs Anaïs, back in the 1970’s. It wasn’t so common during the 80’s but it re-gained a lot of popularity in the 90’s. My mom dating my father when I was young and always kissing me goodnight before leaving is what Anaïs Anaïs instantly reminds me of. She used to wear this Cacharel’s fragrance. Fifteen years have passed since then and Cacharel decides to re-invent Anaïs and turns it into an ode to one of my favorite actresses, Scarlett Johansson, and my secret (not so secret anymore) alter ego: Scarlett O’Hara from Gone With The Wind. That's when Scarlett was born; bringing notes of tea leaves, citrus, pear, jasmine, orange blossom, lavender honey, honeysuckle, white musk and sandalwood.

The citrus and the white flowers are the top notes that you can smell as soon as you open the bottle. They are sweet and tangy at the same time; making it seem a little playful on the “outside”; just like the two ladies it was inspired by. If you are patient enough to wait for the rest of the mix of scents to show up, you will see the sweet intensity and sexiness of the two types of honey and the white musk.

If the notes Scarlett and Anaïs have in common are not enough to remind people that they are “mother and daughter”, the packaging itself makes it a point not to let you forget that. The white and pink from the Anaïs bottle, as well as the design inspired by porcelain work are still present on Scarlett.

I honestly don’t believe in setting an age group for every fragrance out in the market. To me, for the most part, it doesn’t even make much sense. However, this perfume is said to be geared towards young women, from 15 to 25. I say that if you like sweet florals, you can be 12 or 90 and this will still be a fabulous scent. If, on the other hand, you cannot stand the very though of the smell of honey, then this is most definitely not the perfume for you.

Fragrance of the Month

Sugar Lychee by Fresh

If you’re a perfume manic such as myself or looking for a great Spring perfume, I’ve got the perfect something that’ll match your taste. And since I’m posting this up later in the month than I normally would, I’ll make this my pick for the month of April and May. My pick is Sugar Lychee by Fresh.

I’m obsessed with this scent! Believe it or not, I was recently introduced to this fragrance by Fresh and I’m surprised that I didn’t come across this sooner. Don’t let the name fool you: Sugar Lychee is not one of those excessively sweet fragrances composed of 60% alcohol and 40% headaches.

Sugar Lychee is soft, feminine, refreshing and sweet. It’s perfect to wear during April showers and hot muggy summer days. If you smell closely you’ll notice grape fruit, citrus, amber, and mango notes. Although it’s said that Sugar Lychee is exotic (due to the mango hints), don’t let that deter you from buying it as a quick fix for work or school. A 3.4oz bottle runs at $65.
The only down side is that it doesn’t last long, but while it’s noticeable I seriously can’t stop smelling myself. It makes me feel beautiful, happy and confidant! Try it today and add sugar Lychee to your perfume collection.

Remember: Fashion is Foremost Inspiration and Sugar Lychee will definitely inspire you this season!
