Beauty Solutions: Mini Wax Kit by Anastasia

Mini Wax Kit

Eyebrow hair is like no other hair. It colors and bleaches within seconds and grows at an amazing rate (of course it has a mind of it’s own and can stop growing just because it felt like it). That is why it’s such hard work taming eyebrows. I, personally, get them tweezed by a professional once a month but, to maintain at home between visits to the salon I sometimes use wax. A nice kit that helps me have brows that frame my eyes instead of distracting from them is the Mini Wax Kitby Anastasia.

The wax is sugar based so it’s gentle on your delicate skin. It has the wooden spatulas and the muslin cloths, as well as the wax and instructions. This particular kit uses warm wax so you must heat it in the microwave. Not that I need to tell you, but follow instructions carefully – you don’t want to burn yourself, much less in your eye area! A good trick to know if the wax is too hot is to test it in the inside of your wrist; if it feels just warm, then it’s a good temperature to be used on your face.

This Mini Wax kit has 14 muslin cloths so, depending on how much hair to want to wax, it will last you for up to 14 uses.

Beauty Solution: Femme Couture Brow Couture Brow Grooming Wax

Last year’s runways were filled with models with thick brows. It was all about making them look full and perfect – after all they were the main focus of makeup trends. This year, on a lot of runways and photo shoots, you can see most models have them toned down and some don’t have them at all. As if it wasn’t enough that one season boyish haircuts are in and on the next everybody wants waist length hair, now it’s all about the eyebrows as well. Eyebrow hair is very sensitive and it’s not like any other hairs on your body – it colors much faster and once it’s gone, it might be gone for good. That’s why over plucking isn’t such a good idea!

Trends come and go, but groomed eyebrows never go out of style. Sometimes it might be fashionable to make them look more natural, and sometimes people seem to want them all brushed up and neat. No matter what the current trend is, when it comes to your eyebrows, your best friends are your tweezers (or thread) and brow wax or gel. If what you want is to maintain your eyebrows in place, I strongly advise against using gel for the simple reason that it flakes and the probability that you’ll have while flakes on your skin by mid-day is pretty high. The solution is, of course, to wear wax. Wax can be applied with a brush (that you’ll have to wash after every use to avoid developing bacteria and dried wax), you finger (which is messy and often not precise enough) or in the form of a little retractable pen such as Femme Couture Brow Couture Brow Grooming Wax. The pen form leaves out the brush and all the messiness, providing very good results.

If you fill your eyebrows, do so and then simply apply the wax in small strokes all over your brow. You can use it on top of powder or pencil or you can wear it alone. You’ll find that the wax will also soften and condition the eyebrow hairs making them less likely to fall or break, which is always good!

Sebamed Derma Hydrating Body Gel With Aloe Review

If I were on a desert island and could only take a small suitcase (no, no, I wouldn’t go if I could only take one or two things), this would be on my “to pack” list. Last year it saved my life and I keep swearing by it to any one who asks what a good product is. It’s great for sunburns, razor bumps, sweat rashes, kitchen burns, wax burns, as an after sun, smells good and is one of the best body moisturizers I have come across. My little miracle is the Sebamed Derma Hydrating Gel W/ Aloe.

It refreshes and calms the skin, regenerating every skin cell. It’s an oil free gel, and I have to admit it can be a little sticky before it’s fully absorbed. The vitamins A, C, D and E are all great for your skin but the vitamin E will restore the damaged skin and the vitamin C will deeply moisturize it. Your skin will feel fresh, and that’s why it is an awesome relief for burnt skin and some itchiness and irritation.

Last year I got an accidental wax burn on my bikini line and you can imagine how much that hurts. Within two days this product solved my problem. After that sad episode, I still had tons and tons of product left so I decided to use it as an after sun. It’s been over a year, I shower everyday and exfoliate 2 times a week and I still have a hint of the tan I got during my last vacation.

This product is also good for men. I’ve been told it is a very good aftershave for summer and because it’s alcohol free it will feel fresh but won’t leave your manly man in tears should he unintentionally cut himself while shaving.

Unfortunately, this product doesn’t seem to be sold in the US right now but it is available all over Europe and in Canada. If you are in the US, periodically check where SebaMed is sold or use the Sebamed Sebamed Face Cream.
