Look For Less: Rihanna's Cropped Pants

Good morning and happy Saturday! I'm all smiles today. After being subjected to a nasty week of rain, I've woken up to beautiful sunshine. Would you believe that even with all the rain yesterday, I still found time to do a little bargain shopping... not that I bought much, but I did find exactly what I was looking for and that's always a reason to celebrate.

Direct your attention to the picture of Rihanna. She wore this beautiful black crop pants on Tuesday while shopping at Fred Segal in Santa Monica. I love Rihanna's style. Like me, she's not afraid to get creative with garments and seems to pull off stylish looks most of the time. Celebrities always seem to influence our fashion senses but most of us don't have celebrity cents or dollars for that matter. Whoever said that we can't we look just as good for a fraction of what they're paying? I found the same pleated knit crop pants Rihanna was wearing on clearance at Express yesterday (thank God for that)!

I was eyeing this piece a while back online but wondered how it would look on me, so I held back on purchasing it until I could try it on. I combed several Express stores and could never find it until lady luck paid me a visit at the South Street Sea Port location. When I found it in small I knew I had to try it on, and guess what - it fitted perfectly (and I'm a size 6 in pants)! This pure soft and relaxed, cropped fit gives you easy, slip-on style: you can adjust the bottom legs to your liking - by wearing it long or short. The wide waistband is made of elastic to give you that comforting feel. The quality of the garment is amazing; it doesn't feel cheap. Soft, simple, and chic - it's no wonder stars like Rihanna prefer this style. And what I love most about these pants is that I bought it for only $7.99. It was the only one left. I was surprised that no one nabbed it before I did. If you weren't as lucky as I was, don't fret. You still have a chance to get it at Express for $7 .99 in XS-L. Just click here.

This piece is essential to your wardrobe because you can wear it casually (when taking your dog for a walk ) or dressy (when clubbing with your girls). You can also dress this up with heels or down with flats - either way you can't go wrong. I can't wait to show it off white the right pair of heels. Have fun shopping my lovely Recessionistas!

Beauty & Fashion Q & A: Rihanna

Here are some interesting beauty and fashion facts about the R & B songstress Rihanna

Q: Lipstick or lipgloss?
A: Lipstick. It lasts longer, and when I'm performing, my hair doesn't stick to my lips like with gloss.

Q: Shower or baths?
A: Always showers. Bath take too much time

Q: Massage or facials?
A: I don't ever get facials. I do get massages sometimes. I have so much tension in my shoulders from sleeping in different beds and on planes.

Q: Professional manicures or DIY?
A: I am not good at doing my nails myself. Plus, I recently got into designs. I had Obama's face on my pinkie for a while; before that I had a snowman on one nail, and on another finger I had a Santa hat.

Q: Coffee or tea?
A: I hate coffee, and I hate tea. I do drink tea before I go on stage, but I hate it.

Q: Salad or fries?
A: French fries - I eat a lot of them. I don't really like salads, but they are definitely the way to go.

Q: Heels or flats?

A: High heels are sexier, but I love being comfortable; too. Also, I'm so tall. I hate being the only one towering.

Q: Sweet or salty?
A: Salty. I have a bad salt habit. I put it on everything without tasting it first. I even put it on fruit.

Q: Denim or diamonds?
A: You can never have too much denim - you can have too many diamonds. I'm more of a gold girl anyway.

Rihanna Makes a Fashion Pit Stop

In a New York Minute

It's always a good idea to have friends you can depend on (when making a fashion pit stop). On Friday, Rihanna was seen arriving at Kanye West's NYC apartment to make a fashion pit stop. She changed from a (backless) long striped sweater, short denims and knee high boots to a sexy pink and black chiffon pencil dress before hitting up the city's club scene to start off her Memorial Day's Weekend. Rihanna's beauty is undeniably beautiful and candidly chic -- even at night. Both her before and after pictures are shamelessly fierce!

When it comes to changing styles in a New York Minute, Rihanna is the ultimate pro.

When Bad Fashion Happens to Good People: Rihanna

Good Girl Gone Bad Fashion

Rihanna arrived to New York City this weekend after jetting to Hawaii and it looks like Ri-Ri left her fashion sense behind -- either that or she had 1 too many Luau drinks. What made her decide to wear these ridiculus black "working man" boots in the first place? I'm sure she had good intentions but the road to hell was paved with good intentions and her stylist should pour gasoline on these boots and set them on fire. It makes me wonder if her stylist is on vacation as well. Its a shame because Rihanna looks uber chic (minus the construction boots) and I really wanted to post something on that but her foot wear gave me such an eye sore that I was left with no other choice but to red card the .

What was Rihanna thinking?!?!

On a scale from 1 to 5 I'd give her a 3: She could've earned a high 4 but I just hate these terminator boots... yuck!

When Bad Fashion Happens To Good People: Rihanna

"It's a bird, It's a plane ........ it's Rihanna?!?!?!

Madame Butterfly Ri-Ri showed up at last night's Costume Institute Gala at NYC Met Museum of Art looking like a high class bug exterminator -- either that or a horse fly. I 've heard of shoulder pads, but what is going on with all of this? She could've hid a M16 in her sleeve and no one would notice. Remember the MC Hammer pants (back in the early 90s) - well, this is the modern day tuxedo version of it. Don't believe the hype Rihanna: Dolce & Gabanna or not -- this is a BONAFIDE fashion faux pas: talk about Disturbia! This is not like Rihanna. Usually Rihanna's stylist is pretty good on pulling off fashion stunts; maybe she's on vacation. Throw this couture garbage away Ri-Ri! I can't stop shaking my head at this pic. Atleast her Hair is fabulous. I'm sure she heard that all night; "Hey Rihanna, you look like a giant sized bow-tie but atleast your hair looks nice!" By the look on Rihanna's face, she didn't look too happy wearing this thriller rejected costume either.

Jay-Z

Stinking Rich

Famous rap icon and mogul Jay-Z will be adding another endeavor to his goal: conquering the cosmetic game! Today, Parlux Fragrance Inc., manufacturer and international distributor of prestige products announced that it has signed an agreement with Iconic Fragrances, LLC., a licensing company in which rap icon Jay-Z is a principle. The agreement includes individual licenses for Kan-yeezy and pop princess Rihanna. This isn’t new for Jay since he’s part owner of Carol’s Daughter.

This agreement (that has been in negotiations for 9 months) affords for the payment of royalties, profit sharing, and the issuance of warrants to purchase common shares of Parlux starting at $5 per share.

Jay-Z stated, "We are excited for the opportunity to partner with Parlux and their management team in the launch of these dynamic new brands. This venture will take what is already a successful franchise at Parlux to a new level."

The Company will host a conference call Tomorrow, April 8, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. (EDT) to further discuss the Iconic agreement and to provide additional outlook for the upcoming fiscal year. Another addition to Hovie’s resume.
