When Bad Fashion Happens to Good People: Beyonce

Offender Caught Clowning Around!

Beyonce made a tour stop in Vienna, Austria yesterday. Wearing sheer tank, J Brand jeans and silver Yves Saint Laurent boots, Sasha Fierce looked like Sasha Mess! This getup wasn't made for her and her stylist should have known better. Doesn't Beyonce look like a high-end clown (and I'm being nice when I say this)? This is a definately a fashion faux pas for B. There's no fooling me; I don't care how much this look cost her -- it's a no-no! Is this another case of "It looks better on her than me" for Beyonce because Rihanna pulled it off just a few weeks ago and did a fabulous job.

When Fashionwithfifi asked what you thought of Beyonce's look, here's what was said:
"She looks [like a] hot mess! It looks like she has no shape, and her pants aren't fitting [her] right" - Carlos in Brooklyn, NY

Ladies I know you adore and her style, but do not seek inspiration from this look (not her version atleast)! Dressing like this in public will definately keep you single [even if you're not trying to be].

Whatever Happened to Them Wednesdays: Shelia E.

Living the Glamorous Life

Growing up as a child everything seemed so simple and worry-free. I miss the 80s: wild hair styles, shoulder pads, spandex, and great music. Remember Shelia E., the beautiful protégé of Prince, who proved that pretty faces are just as talented on the drums as their male counterparts? Shelia has influenced musical performers of all genres. Just like every boy and girl (growing up) during the 80’s, I adored Shelia E. and so did my fiancé, who as a child had a secret crush on her (I can't stop giggling at that). You’re probably wondering whatever happened to her over the years; what has she been up to and is she still living the glamorous life? Well wonder no more – Fifi’s got the scoop!

This glam gal has been a busy bee since exiting Prince’s Purple Rain train. She recorded albums Sex Cymbal, Writes of Passage, and Heaven. In 2002, Shelia made an appearance on Beyonce’s “Work It Out.” She performed alongside Prince at the Coachella Music Festival and on the Ellen Degeneres Show last week. Her recent endeavor was CMT’s Gone Country 3 in which she was crown the winner. Watching her performance on CMT3 gave me goose bumps - Oh Shelia! Although CMT’s Gone Country 3 is over I’m not sure if Shelia has gone country completely but she’s still leading the Glamorous Life after 20 plus years.

I can't imagine how scarey it was for her living under the same roof as George Clinton

Celebrity Makeovers: Kim Kardashian

Imitation Of Life

New weather brings in new looks and yes ladies, in case you didn’t get the memo: it’s officially makeover season! Here’s a picture of Kim K’s new “Beyonce look alike” do. Once I saw this picture of Kim I couldn’t stop giggling in disbelief. What and who gave her this bright idea? At first I thought she was wearing a lace-front wig but then realized that Beyonce’s alter ego Sasha Fierce inspired her to do this. If you ask me; it’s nice but it’s not Kim (Beyonce yes, Kim no). Talk about imitation is the best form of flattery: first Aubrey now her.

Another case of Beyonceitis

Celebrity Makeovers: Susan Boyle

Overnight singing sensation Susan Boyle is taking the world by storm. She shocked the world with her unbelievable performance on “Britian’s Got Talent”; silencing the snickers from both judges and audience members. Now the 47 year old Boyle is silencing those who’ve been making fun of appearance with this remarkable makeover. Susan has rid herself of the frizzy hair and bushy eye brows and replaced it with a new do, wardrobe upgrade that’ll bring on a new attitude.

"She looks 10 years younger," said Toni Jones, assistant fashion editor at The Sun tabloid newspaper, which featured the new look Boyle on its cover Friday.
"Compared to what she had, it's a 200 percent improvement. But our readers think this is as far as she should go. We want her to stay one of us."

Some are afraid that her new look will jeopardize her authenticity but I’d continue to root for her: it doesn’t come any realer than Susan, who admits to never being kissed. After getting a load of her now, you’ll be certain to double back in admiration. I’m excited for her and proud that she had the courage to reach for her dreams regardless of what others thought of her. I usually don’t get excited over many things but her story definitely touched me. She’s another example of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Let this be a lesson that beauty is only skin deep; confidence in self is what really matters!

Charlotte Russe Graduation Dresses

Graduation Dresses

Graduation is around the corner and your stress level is beyond high. You’re all out of cash and desperately need something cheap and chic to wear to both the ceremony and party. Where do you go, what do you do, and how can you pay for it? Well, panic no more --- Fifi is here to the rescue. I’ve searched many dresses and narrowed it down to two that’ll blow your wig off. Let’s take a look:

Ruffle A-Line Dress

If it’s your big day I’d suggest going for this elegant, yet chic Ruffle A-Line Dress. I’m in love with this tube dress! Last year I purchased something similar at $158 and for the price that I paid, it didn’t look half as good as this black ruffle-trimmed dress. Don’t let its simplicity fool you; stitched with a striped empire waist, pleated details, and straight-across neckline makes this black beauty perfect for a party look as well. This will definitely give you the most bang for your buck because it can be worn just about anywhere year round. If this appears to be too simple for you, take a look at something else I’ve found…

Python Dress

Animal prints are definitely hot this season! This black and white sophisticated Python Dress is perfect for the sassy hot diva. If you’re reluctant to wearing it under your cap and gown, don’t fret – I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait when your boyfriend and friends see you in it. Even if this isn’t your big day I would suggest getting this. It features cap sleeves, a surplice V neck, and an empire waist complete with a faux patent leather belt. Go from ceremony to party mode in no time. Either way you choose, you can’t go wrong with these graduation getups. • What were you wearing yesterday? Steve madden flats, express denims, a plaid shirt with a light sweater.

• What are you grateful for? Arriving at my car just in time to get a ticket and not towed.

• What’s for dinner today? Leftovers: Ghee Whiz Deluxe Hambuger ummmmmm… and home-made rotisserie chicken with spicy Cajun rice, carrots, string beans, and stuffing. For those of you who don’t know; I eat like there’s no tomorrow.

Thanks Rayqueenbee!
Sidenote: this is a picture of me taken at the Metropolitian Museum of Art yesterday.

Upcoming Events

Wedding Bells!

Early this morning I got a call from a friend who requested my assistance in shopping for bridesmaid dresses for an upcoming September wedding. Since I have plenty to do this weekend, I had to pass on the invite. Speaking of weddings, aren’t Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt set to tie the knot at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena this weekend? Yes, you read it correctly the first time! They’re attempting to wed again: first, it was in Mexico, then at the Justice of Peace, and now this. They say the third time’s a charm so what the heck.

I’m not sure if this is one of those Speidi PR stunts, but according to In Touch Spencer has reportedly purchased a quarter-million dollars’ worth of Neil Lane jewelry for Heidi to wear on their big day. It’s also reported that the entire cast of the Hills will be in attendance (including L.C.), which smells fishy to me since Lauren clearly despises Spencer. Heidi is set to wear a gown by Monique Lhuillier; however, I’m not sure if it’s white or off white. In the same article sources added “it’s all set up by the producers of MTV to get people to watch. It’s just a plot line. They’re not really getting married.”

Oh, I get it: it’s a play wedding that involves fake people and real money………….. yeah - right!?!?

Street Walking: 4/24/09

1980's Rocker Look

Today was a beautiful day in the city: bright, sunny, and plenty people out ready to showcase their street fashion. We at Fashionwithfifi believe that Fashion Is Foremost Inspiration and want to know what inspires you. While out in Union Square, I ran into two guys who instantly caught my eye. Angel (right) and Dave (left) looked as though they were the poster boys for Rock and Republic in their 1980’s rock attire, while taking a smoke break. When asked what inspired their street fashion, Angel responded “I just grab the first thing that I see when I wake up” and Dave added that “Rock inspires me and my fashion.” Personally, I dig their street fashion: laid back, leather jacks, and the aviators are awesome. What do you think about their street wear; can you digg it?

Doesn’t Angel remind you of Jay Lyon (Whitney Port’s Boyfriend) from The City?

Summer Anthem

"Download" by Lil Kim

Lil Kim has been a busy Queen Bee lately: DWTS, interviews, working on her album and music video. Here’s a behind the scene footage of Kim’s “Download” video featuring the human music box T-Pain and the originator Charlie Wilson.

I’m really digging this song and excited to see the end results; being that this is sampled from one of my favorite 1980’s jam “Computer Love” by the Gap Band. Her Hollywood BFF Lisa Raye made an appearance as well. Lil Kim makes this video an official grown-woman affair; sexy, refreshing, and mature. I can picture this single being the Hip-Hop/ R & B Summer anthem for 2009. There’s nothing like a good tune to snap your fingers to.

MTB4 Season Finale:

Talk About Damage

After watching the final showing of MTV’s Making The Band (season 4), I couldn’t help but to shake my head at how things ended for the girls of Danity Kane. What was the real story behind Aundrea’s absence? It’s obvious that there’s a lot of tension between the girls and it would only be right not to continue together for now, but don’t they seem bitter?

Damaged... damaged.... damaged....
Noticed the girls’ body language, the way Dawn switched places with D.Woods in-between a commercial break and their responses when asked if there was a possibility of Danity Kane reuniting.

So how you gonna fix it, fix it, fix it?
I guess this is deeper than tv: more than what we, as both viewers and fans, can ever imagine. Damaged... damaged.... damaged. However, I was deeply disappointed that they didn’t put the pettiness aside to give their fans a final performance but what would you expect from a bunch of immature girls who have a sense of entitlement?

On lighter note, I’m definitely looking forward to Aubrey’s new reality show.

Lil Kim goes to Hollywood as a

Walking Wax Figure

Rapper Lil Kim was recently on the set of Access Hollywood taping a segment about DWTS and her friend actress Lisa Raye made an appearance. Can someone please do something with her face…. Her makeup is all wrong!

Like 80% of us I, too, am guilty of watching Lil Kim perform on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars and I had to get a few things off my chest:

1. Yes, she puts on a great performance but includes a lot of unnecessary mambo jumbo.

2. Doesn’t she look like a walking Madame Tussaud’s Wax Figure? She really wants to be a real-life “black barbie!”

3. Is Lil Kim bleaching her skin again or is her makeup artist using a concealer that’s 5 shades lighter to screen her pigment color? Just a few years ago Lil Kim was Darker than me but now she’ll fit perfectly in a Jackson Family Photo.

4. I wonder how she looks like without makeup ........... oh the Horror!
