Street Walking: 36th Annual Village Halloween Parade

Last night Fashionwithfifi was in attendance at the 36th annual Village Halloween Parade in New York City. The theme for this year’s event was Terra Incognita – meaning unknown land. The parade, which ran from 7 pm until 10 pm, began at Spring Street and traveled north on 6 Avenue to 21st street.

Not even rain could stop more than 2 million spectators from crowding 6th Avenue. Thousands of participants came decked out in creative spooky and humorous costumes. Michael Jackson, Capt. Jack Sparrow, Fred Flintstone, Duff Man, Jesus and Destro were some of this year’s popular costumes.

The free mile-long procession featured musical performers, break dancers, jugglers and giants on stilts. Dancers performed to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” and several Jackson impersonators popped a few moon walks and signature high kicks.

This year’s Halloween spectacle was quite an experience. Where else in Manhattan can you find a pimp in a wheel chair, the Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kim Zolciak in search of Big Poppa, Wanda, Key Lo-lo and Sheneneh Jenkins all in the same place?

It’s no wonder this event was listed in the book 100 Things To Do Before You Die. You can watch more on the event in the video below.
